With the mainstream media cutting down on the number of reporters and the kinds of stories they are willing to cover, citizen media is a logical and necessary result. It is my understanding that mainstream media does not cover some stories because their owners will not allow it. After all, the extremely wealthy keep their money and their power by keeping the majority of citizens ignorant and divided.
I gave up on mainstream media years ago. One needs to ferret out the truth as best one can, and with what little time one has. Americans are overworked and underpaid, and it takes too much time for many to do the research to know what is really going on. I value citizen reporters.
